Danish Bread Whisk

Danish bread whisk

A Danish bread whisk (aka dough whisk) is a heavy-duty implement designed to beat heavy dough for bread.

It is far easier to beat bread dough with this whisk than a spoon. It can be used for anything from batters to stiff bread doughs, and is good for things like muffin mixes, which you want a bit lumpy, and also don’t want to overmix.

It mixes without incorporating air.

It is far easier to clean than standard whisks.

Design

A Danish bread whisk consists of a long wooden handle, at the end of which is attached two rings of stiff wire, a smaller one inside a larger one. The outer ring is about 10 cm in diameter (4 inches); the smaller ring has a loop introduced into its circle. The handle is generally about 28 cm long (11 inches) to give you lots of leverage. From the end of the ring to the end of the handle, it will be about 38 cm long (15 inches).
